Since that first stone wheel, transportation has carried the lifeblood of humankind. Air and
Space now connect the world. As the population has increased, so have the demands and
needs for personal, public, industry, and military Air and Space transportation. With the current
population over 7 billion and expected to exceed 11 billion by 2100, burdens on global
aviation and space transportation systems will continue to rise. An increased, competent
workforce, inspired entrepreneurs, scientists, and engineers, and innovative solutions will be
required to maintain and improve the Air and Space systems upon which the entire planet relies.
